• Official sources. Each rate comes from the jurisdiction's own page on the SC Local Business License Renewal Center (localblrenewal.com), the statewide portal towns use for online renewals, with a link to its ordinance there.
• Quoted and dated. Every value shows the exact text we read and the date we checked it.
• No guessing. If a town doesn't post a value, we show "Not published". Minimum fees aren't posted on the portal, so that column is blank until we read each ordinance.
• Estimates only. The calculator follows the posted rate tiers. Deductions, special classes and state-set rates (insurance, telecom, amusement machines) aren't included. Always confirm with the town.
• Population and counties come from U.S. Census 2024 estimates; zip lookup uses the Census 2020 ZCTA relationship files.
